Forced to adapt to harsh existence on the mostly lifeless worlds along the Galactic Rim, the Terrans are masters of survival. Possessing neither the advanced technology of the Protoss nor the natural powers of the Zerg, their military consists of varied mix of units. From the effective, yet expendable, Marine conscripts to the highly trained Wraith pilots, the Terrans are a tenacious lot who are quite unwilling to concede their territory. Despite the setbacks this young species has suffered, the Terrans have managed to spread from world to world, fully believing that they can stand against any opposition. |

The Terrans are the only race that can actively repair their buildings and mechanical units. The Zerg regenerate, and the Protoss' shields eventually recharge, but only the Terrans can quickly repair some of their units, which can be a real resource saver. They are, without a doubt, the best defensive race in the game. Seige tanks, properly paired with bunkers, can make a well fortified Terran base one of the most unattractive targets in the game. Mobile buildings are a key Terran advantage: if you find one of your bases under attack by ground attack troops (Zerglings, Zealots, etc.), just fly the buildings out of danger. Large amounts of Battle cruisers with fully charged Yamato Guns can lay waste to even well defended bases in seconds. |
Critical hit damage is a primary weakness of the Terrans: as the manual says, a building in the red zone will be destroyed if left unattended, and this can become very annoying. Those damn seige tanks in seige mode just don't fire fast enough! Zealot rushes can tear apart marines in seconds. Terran players will find themselves very vulnerable to rushes. Without the fast building ability of the Zerg or the prowess and endurance of the Protoss Zealots, Terrans are sometimes rapidly slaughtered in the early part of the game. Large air assaults are almost impossible with the Terrans. Unless you have a massive amount of resources to build lots of Battle Cruisers, you run the risk of being mobbed by large numbers of Dragoons, Carriers, Hydralisks, or Mutalisks, which will rapidly shred your forces. |
